FM: They came home from the army one time, my three oldest brothers. They came home from the Army. Of course as you probably know, a little bit of moonshine was flowin’ around; they got into that. My older brother says, “It's funny Francis don't play the fiddle.” And I'm just on pins and needles, dying for the fiddle, eh: someone give it to me! “Funny Francis don't play.” “Oh no,” my Dad says “I never heard him.” He didn't, either. And I piped up & I said “I can play.” My dad looked at me, “You can?” I said, “Yep.” And my older brother says, “Give him the fiddle.” I took the fiddle just like a piece of bread, boy, molasses and all, and I let her go. My Dad's eyes opened up, “Holy Cow!” My brother says, “Boy, can he ever play” I had a great time, then. But then I never owned a fiddle until I left the Island. When I left the Island I bought a fiddle from a friend of mine who played in our band: a policeman. I can still remember his name, Henry Bittner.
