Yetts of Muckart, The | Bowing Down Home
About this tune
This tune was originally a strathspey, later translated to reel tempo. It appears as a strathspey in Surenne's Dance Music of Scotland and in The Skye Collection, but as a reel in The Athole Collection and Kerr's Merry Melodies. The term yetts means "gates" in the Scots language; Muckart is a village in Perthshire, Scotland.
Notation for the version played here by "Young Peter" Chaisson is in The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island.
