Green Fields of America | Bowing Down Home
About this tune
According to Archie Stewart, a fiddling neighbor learned this key-of-D tune from a dockhand, who was whistling it while loading potatoes onto a ship bound for Newfoundland. Notation is in The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island.
An entirely un-related Irish tune (in the key of G) also goes by the title "Green Fields of America" (see O'Neill's Music of Ireland).
