Wood chopping frolics | Bowing Down Home
LF – Leo Farrell
KP – Curator Ken Perlman
KP: Did they have frolics in your day?
LF: Yeah, choppin' frolics. All the neighbors go to your place and cut wood for you, eh. You maybe had an operation or some damn thing, broke your leg, unable to work. We'd all go over there, chop the wood for you, haul it home, or a splittin’ frolic. And have a lunch that night and a dance, and a little beer. Sometimes they had >shine or rum.
