Londonderry Hornpipe, The | Bowing Down Home

About this tune

This tune appears in Allan's Irish Fiddler and (under the title "Ladies' Hornpipe") in The Roche Collection. Played as a three-part tune in Ireland (A, B and C), it is usually played as a two-part tune on PEI. All Island fiddlers play part A, but some fiddlers play parts A and B, while others play parts A and C. Notation for the version played here by Eddy Arsenault is in The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island.

Londonderry (the preferred name to most Irish is "Derry") is a city in Northern Ireland.
